This is a reproduction of the original graphite pencil drawing Wm Conrad Bowen rendered on illustration board for his boss’s while he worked at an advertising agency in Los Angeles.

One day while Conrad worked for Scott Lancaster Mills Atha in Century City, California, Peggy Lancaster, the creative director & Steve Scott, principal owner came to him & ask him if he could draw a picture of a duck decoy — a little out of the ordinary for an agency that specialized in toy accounts, banking, food & fashion. Being a sportsman from his youth, it wasn’t hard for Conrad to say yes to them. They promptly produced a double-page spread layout for a print ad scheduled to run in Ad Age & Adweek, two national trade publications they wanted to advertise in. With that commission, Conrad researched & rendered this classic wood-carved Pintail duck decoy for the ad insertions.
