"Acrylic Study #4"
11.5”x15” Full-Color Fine Art Edition Printed on White 80 Lb Paper Cover Stock
This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted with acrylics on the backside of illustration board in the mid-1970s.
At Utah State University, professor Glen Edwards offered a studio live-drawing & painting class on each & every Friday all day long. If you had other classes during the day you just excused yourself & then returned to his class when you were finished. The class was available to 2nd year students & there after. Conrad attended the class weekly in the east side of the old mechanical arts building for 3 years. Usually a model would poise center stage including random props. Students with masonite art boards, sketch pads, illustration board, palettes, pencils, pens & paint in tow would gather around sitting on horse easels attempting to capture the scene on an empty blank surface. To start with, it was quite intimidating, and it took awhile, but Conrad finally got used to it. In this environment, Conrad gained confidence & experience & learned how to draw & paint. This is one of six studies preserved from that era. Fellow classmates & life-long friends include: Scott Snow, Ondre Pettingill, Karl Hepworth, John Gibby, Kim Passey, Barbara Summers Edwards & Roxane Mitchell Pfister.
