"Be of Good Cheer"
11.5”x15” Full-Color Fine Art Edition Printed on White 80 Lb Cover Stock Paper
This is a reproduction of the original artwork Paula L Bowen painted at home in 2022 with acrylic paint on a 18”x24” gesso primed stretched canvas.
Conrad’s sister, Janene, was diagnosed with Willson’s Disease when she was 16 years old. At the time, she was a dedicated straight-A student, & a talented piano player who also sang & danced. The disease robbed her of all of these gifts — & more! Early on, she lost her ability to talk, & use primary motor skills. For months, she communicated with us by pointing at a letter & word chart. Someone had to feed her every bite she ate. After months, then years, she recovered sufficiently to live somewhat independently with family, then in an assisted living center & eventually in a care center totally isolated by Covid. Through all this, she maintained a cheery attitude, & for years, called everybody she knew & wished them “Happy Birthday” on their birthday until she recently passed away. Paula painted this portrait of Janene from photo references she gathered of Janene when she was a teenager & before the disease ravaged her physical body. With this painting, Paula wanted to assure Janene that her Savior, Jesus Christ, would be there & personally receive her into heaven when she passed through the Pearly Gates.
