"Mt Sterling Cutoff on Mt Pisgah Dug Road"
17”x11” Full-Color Fine Art Edition Printed on White 80 Lb Paper Cover Stock
This is a reproduction of the original B&W line drawing Wm Conrad Bowen sketched in a bound 5” x 3.5” 50 Lb Strathmore sketchpad he carries regularly in his cargo pants pocket so he can start sketching anywhere on the spot.
Conrad sketched this B&W view on the spot just a couple miles west of Paradise in the afternoon on the first weekend of the Utah deer hunt in October. Conrad & Paula left Grandma’s house, rifle in hand & art pads & supplies in his pockets, early in the morning before sunup & hiked up to the top & backside of Baxter’s walk-on property to secure a prime spot on the mountain to tag a deer. It never happened. But painting & drawing was spectacular on a beautiful fall day up in the foothills west of town. We didn’t see any game the whole day, but Conrad completed this sketch & a small watercolor painting earlier in the morning! Thinking back on a life-time of returning home empty-handed from hunting excursions – it would have been more productive for Conrad to have included his sketchpads & supplies along on each adventure. Of course, he only started wearing cargo pants a coupe years ago, so he wouldn’t have had anywhere to put his “stuff” to take it with him!
