"The Wellsvilles"
17”x11” Full-Color Fine Art Edition Printed on White 80 Lb Paper Cover Stock
This is a reproduction of the original artwork Wm Conrad Bowen painted in a bound 5.25” x 3.5” Tumuarta Watercolor sketchpad he carries regularly in his cargo pants pocket so he can start painting anywhere on the spot.
The Wellsville Mountain range on the west side of Cache Valley has always held an element of grandeur in Conrad’s mind. He became most aware of them when he started working in the fields of Paradise from spring until late fall moving sprinkler pipe and hauling hay gazing up at them almost everyday. The standard wager among friends at the Paradise store over a rootbeer was how late in the fall there’d still be snow on the mountains below Stewart Peak & Box Elder Peak & if it would last until past September. It wasn’t until July 4th, 2016 that Conrad, (Paula, Kimberly & Aaron) crested the high peaks in a 12-hour hike from bottom to top and back that put a checkmark of completion on a bucket list item going way back! This view is on the country road in Mount Sterling between Hyrum dam & starting up Highway 89 and Sardine Canyon. If you pay close attention traveling westbound, you’ll recognize the spot when you drive past it anytime of the year.
